A journey through the female presence in Agrupació Fotogràfica de Catalunya (AFC), an organization created in 1923 in Barcelona to promote the art of photography and which this year reaches its centenary.
The AFC decidedly bet on promoting the hobby among women at times when they suffered from a special social and cultural relegation. Thanks to the organization of specialized courses or collective exhibitions of their works, a great generation of pioneers emerged in the fifties, the so-called “Women’s Group of the AFC”.
Photographers of recognized prestige such as Carme Garcia, Montserrat Vidal-Barraquer, Glòria Salas, Milagros Caturla, Roser Oromí, Conxita Viñals or Rosa Szücs were part of it. A story of overcoming and will that managed to present a modern and renewing look.
