This year, the presentation of the Fotoconnexió 2022 awards took place in the facilities kindly provided by the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya (IEFC).
The proposals sent by the members had meant that, this year, the finalists in each category were the following::

TRAJECTORY Award
- Institut Amatller d’Art Hispànic: with more than 75 years of history, it holds and manages some 36,000 photographic copies and more than 30,000 art titles, being one of the reference centers for art history research. It is nominated for its work in the conservation and dissemination of cultural heritage, especially the photographic collections.
- Laura Terré: for her extensive career as a photography historian, exhibition curator and teacher. It is worth highlighting her research around the generation of Spanish photographers who formed the AFAL Group during the 1950s, the writing of monographs on various photographers, as well as numerous articles in the press and specialized magazines and the curation of exhibitions. Among her numerous curatorships, we highlight the most recent one, the Year Francesc Català-Roca, 2022.
- Manel Úbeda: for his career as a photographer, having become one of the references of his generation. Apart from his involvement in the Photographic Spring of Catalonia or having been a co-founder of the Procés Gallery, his role as founder, director and teacher of the CEI and IDEP schools should be highlighted.

INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR Award
- Francesc Català-Roca Year, 2022. Curated by Laura Terré: for the organization of events and exhibitions throughout the Catalan territory as well as in other parts of the Spanish state, which have not only focused on the figure of Francesc Català-Roca, but they have highlighted the entire lineage of the Catalàs, formed by three key figures in photography in Catalonia.
- Exhibition “Adolf Mas. The eyes of Barcelona” at the KBr of the Fundació Mapfre. Curated by Carmen Perrotta: for publicizing and highlighting a very important fund for the history of photography in Catalonia, which, until now, had not received much attention outside of specialized fields in art history. The curator rigorously analyzes Mas’s vast photographic production and rescues its more social side.
- Exhibition “Bromolis. Pictorialist photography by Joaquim Pla Janini” at the Museu Marítim de Barcelona. Curated by María de los Santos García Felguera, Laura Covarsí, David González and Sílvia Dahl, with the collaboration of Pep Parer:for the didactic treatment with which the exhibition presents to the general public an overview of pictorialism, focusing on the relationship between photography and the sea, and which allows you to contextualize and highlight the sea-themed bromeliads of Pla Janini. This exhibition brings together the expert knowledge of several photo-connected companies in a common effort.

FOTOCONNECTAT/DA Award
- Ramon Barnadas: for the impetus given to the association during his presidency, bringing enthusiasm and leadership to the Board. For his dedication in the preparation of activities of various kinds, promoting the association and forging links with numerous entities. The organization and coordination of the events celebrating the association’s 10th anniversary or the creation of the “Papers Fotogràfics” magazine stand out.
- Albert Domènech: for the outstanding information dissemination work he does for Fotoconnexió and for the promotion of the cultural and social values of the association in his personal publications.
- David González: for his notable contribution to the study and dissemination of photography through his work at the Sabadell Archive, with the presentation of the doctoral thesis “History of photography in Sabadell. From the origins to 1936” , the publication of the book Sabadell disapeargut, the co-curation of the exhibition “Bromolis. Pictorialist Photography by Plan Janini” and the photo gathering “The Sabadell photographers Maria Codina and Anita Figueras” in Sant Lluc. It is also worth noting his involvement with Fotoconnexió and the dissemination and promotion he does in the various events in which he participates.

After the ceremony, the usual dinner was held.
