On Thursday, May 3rd, the conferences were held within the project of Historical Recreation of the first mountain photographs in Catalonia, at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, organized by Fotoconnexió in collaboration with the Societat Catalana d’Història de la Ciència i de la Tècnica (SCHCT)
- “A journey through the printed photographic image”: Carles Mitjà described the evolution of the methods of printing the photographic image, from Niepce and Talbot to the coal transported by Alphonse de Poitevoin and the rotogravure of Kilc
- “Genesis of the monumental picturesque albums of Catalonia”: Ramon Barnadas presented the genesis of the first albums with mountain photography in Catalonia, promoted by the Associació Catalanista d ‘Excursions Científiques, with photographs by Mariezcurrena and Manso, among others.
- “Mathematical strategies for locating images”: Gregori Guasp presented a simple mathematical-geometric method to locate the point of taking a photograph on a map, from the image of it, without distance information focal length or other information about the camera.
At the end of the session the attendees observed several copies of the picturesque albums.
