This year, the presentation of the Fotoconnexió Awards had to be done with a video recording the awarded separately:
Among the different proposals we have received to nominate candidates for the Fotoconnexió 2020 awards, this year we have received four mentions for the Trajectory award, fourteen for the Initiative award and seven for the Fotoconnectat/da award. Based on the matching proposals, the finalists are:
- TRAJECTORY Award IN THE FIELD OF RESEARCH AND THE IMPULSE OF PHOTOGRAPHY
- Enric Galve: for being one of the founders of Color EGM Laboratories in 1971, a place where photographers come with full confidence, having been the director of Sonimagfoto & Multimedia and being a member of the Graphispag committee. He is a lover of photography who has given and supports many initiatives.
- Josep Rigol: for his prolific activity as a photographer, gallery owner, journalist, exhibition curator, organizer of photographic competitions and member of cultural associations, which have linked him to the Photographic Spring, Scan, the Catalan Photography Days and Ajoblanco, among others.
- Vila Casas de Torroella de Montgrí Foundation: for its work as a center for the dissemination of contemporary photography. The Palau Solterra is the Museum of Contemporary Photography (national and international) of the Vila Casas Foundation. Opened in 2000, it currently houses around 200 contemporary photographs on display by artists from various parts of the world.
- PHOTOGRAPHIC INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR Award
- Exhibition An own camera. Women and photographic practices at Casa Elizalde: to provide a new perspective on the analysis of the role of women in photographic culture, which claims to overcome the traditional categorizations of both gender and practice, and proposes a more historiographical approach integrating the role of women in this field.
- Carlos Pérez Siquier exhibition at the Mapfre Foundation: for the opportunity to see a broad retrospective of the author that reached his most current production, with a compartmentalization that allowed to follow clearly the different stages / projects of the photographer.
- 1st edition of the master’s degree in artistic teaching of Conservation and Restoration of Photographic Heritage at the School of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage of Catalonia: for their work in the training of professionals competent in conservation and restoration in one of the fields emerging and currently neglected, such as that of photographic material.
- FOTOCONNECTAT/DA Award
- Laia Foix: for her work as the secretary of the association, in a very active way, with an enormous capacity for decision, many ideas and skills to carry them out. And also for his work at the IEFC, his participation in courses he teaches and advises, and his collaboration in the Photography Thesaurus or the recovery of the Miquel Galmes Collection.
- Víctor Oliva: for his selfless work for Fotoconnexió in the design of the brochures distributed in the Photo Talks and the logo of the “Year Francesc Boix”. Also for the donation of some thirty high quality frames to the association and which have already been used in an exhibition.
- Exhibition 11 fotoconnected: to give voice and space to photographers members of the association in a space that allows their visit and gathering with activities around in order to encourage the debate in which different aspects converge: working women and professionals ‘a profession in which men have always been spoken of.
